About the Artist
Cindy Packard Richmond is a pastel and oil painter. She is an Associate (juried) Member of the Torpedo Factory Artist Association in Alexandria, Virginia. She is also an associate (juried) member of the Pastel Society of America and a member of the Degas Pastel Society, the Maryland Pastel Society, and the Southeastern Pastel Society.
Ms. Richmond studied art at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. Thirty years later, Ms. Richmond studied at the Art League of Alexandria with Diane Tesler and Danni Dawson.
Cindy Packard Richmond won the Joan Gehl award for representational excellence at the Pastel Society of America's 2001 show. "Merlot on the Bounty" was featured in the Pastel Masters feature of the February/March 2004 issue of International Artist. "Plum Perfect" was the second prize winner in the October/November 2005 International Artist magazine Still Life Competition. An article, Designing a Visual Feast, appears in the August/September 2006 International Artist Magazine. It features 12 paintings, including a step-by-step demonstration.
Ms. Richmond is a published novelist and food writer. Though she no longer writes for a living, she is still captivated by food. "I find I'm irresistibly drawn to painting bulbous shapes: the sweeping curves, tightening spirals, rounded edges, and plump and corpulent essence of food. (I find little comfort in straight lines, which explains why there are so few in my paintings.)"
She is located in Studio 3 at the Torpedo Factory Art Center.
Commissions welcomed.
