Early in my pastels career, I was drawn to painting Statues. Public sculpture is everywhere in cities, but rarely truly noticed.. The Ulysses S Grant Memorial in Washington DC is mesmerizing. Henry Merwin Shrady completed the 252 foot grouping in 1922. I did several paintings. This is a close up of one of the horses pulling a war wagon.
